A lot of hobbyists love goldfish most of many other fish. They like these kind of fish because they are very colourful and cute creatures. They look great in aquarium filled with plenty of green plants. However goldfish love aquarium plants, not to admire them, of course, but eating them. Aquarists often complain that  goldfish and plants in one aquarium is impossible. There is not true. It is not simple but  we will manage it.
Every experienced  and well knowledged aquarist knows that plants meet a useful function in fish aquarium. They take a major part in the process of filtration. Aquarium plants purify water from ammonia and nitrite.  Because of these useful qualities they are necessary for keeping fish tank correctly.
In addition to this aquarium plants have extremely positive influence on health and vivid colours of goldfish. And goldfish love eating aquarium plants.
Therefore we have to choose plants which look beautifully, are liked by goldfish and are able to grow fast.
One of the most attractive and suitable for goldfish aquarium is Marimo Ball or other words: Moss Ball available in our online aquariumwaterplants store. It looks like green ping -  pong  ball. Marimo Ball is rich in nutrients which are good for not only goldfish, but also for other fish and shrimps as well. Fish never eat the whole Moss Ball, they only nibble it therefore there is no need to bother.
It is also good to have plants with bulbs which grow faster than goldfish are able to eat them. Aponogeton madagascarensis is the best example.
Echinodorus sp.is very suitable because of quick growth.
Reasonable can be keeping floating plants, which do not have to be rooted in gravel, but swing freely in the water: Myriophyllum, Elodea densa, Hydrocotyle etc.
Very admirable effect can be achieved by planting many varieties of foreground plants. A lot of them create dense green carpet in a very short time. Here are some of quickly growing foreground plants:Hemianthus micranthenoides, Mictanthenum umbrosum, Lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae, Eleocharis parvula, Eleocharis accicularis, Glossostigma elantinoides  and many  others.
It is really worth growing aquarium plants together with goldfish. The effect iis wonderful.
