Outdoor bonsai trees should be taken of special care. It is important to choose the right place for them, regularly water and fertilize, and provide the right wintering conditions.
Most of the outdoor bonsai trees require a sunny stand because only a few species can grow in partly shade. Sun access is essential for plants to grow properly therefore pots should be placed where they won't be shaded by tall trees. Plants should be set a little higher to be always visible. However they can't be exposed to strong winds and heavy rain. Before the storm, it is best to hide bonsai trees in some safe place.
Outdoor bonsai trees growing in flat pots with a small amount of soil are exposed to rapid drying. We water them every day (preferably in the evening) and even twice a day in hot summer.
We can use water-soluble fertilizers which we add directly into the water. Specialized outdoor bonsai fertilizers are the best. Of course they should be applied only in accordance to manufacturer's recommendations.
Outside Bonsai Trees, similar to all other garden plants, are disposed to changing seasons. In winter they should be covered with spruce twigs and white agrotextiles.
